The City of Windhoek has launched its third consecutive International Fire Safety Week, running from 7 to 10 October.

The week aims to raise awareness about fire prevention and encourage communities to take a more active role in reducing fire-related deaths and property losses.

The City of Windhoek has commenced with an impact assessment of Thursday's heavy rainfall, which caused flooding and stormwater runoff in several parts.

This follows about 70 millimetres of rain recorded in various parts, resulting in significant stormwater runoff, active river crossing and flooding.

The City of Windhoek emerged as the overall winner of the 2026 National Local Authorities Sports and Recreation Association (NALASRA) Games, which brought together 43 local authorities and about 1,500 employees from across Namibia.
