Oshakati Mayor Leonard Hango says the establishment of his council's traffic law enforcement unit is aimed at promoting responsible road users' behaviour, protecting lives, improving traffic flow and ensuring that Oshakati remains a safe, orderly and well-managed town for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi has officially launched the Oshakati Town Council traffic law enforcement unit with a call to urgently invest in the technology that will manage and control traffic in the town.

The City of Windhoek says the future of Windhoek's transport system will not be determined by how many roads they build but by how successfully they provide residents with safe, reliable, and attractive alternatives to using private vehicles.

Vice Chairperson of the National Council Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Housing, Christopher Likuwa, says there is a need for Namibia's transport systems to be designed, managed and regulated in a manner that prevents deaths or serious injuries.
