The late former First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba has devoted her life to serving others through healthcare, community development and the empowerment of women and children.

Born on 16 June 1948 in the Ohangwena Region, Penehupifo Pohamba, affectionately known as Penny, dedicated her life to serving others.

Senior government officials gathered at the residence of the bereaved family of the late Penehupifo Pohamba in Windhoek to offer their condolences.

The former first lady died last night, aged 78.
