A faction of the Ovaherero Traditional Authority has renewed its call for recognition and reparations for the Ovaherero and Nama genocide, following engagements in Botswana, South Africa and Germany aimed at strengthening international support for the demand of the communities.

Under pressure, South Africa is in talks with Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and many others seeking support to fix its porous borders.

South Africa is currently battling illegal migration and an influx of illicit drugs owing to its porous borders.

Namibia, Botswana and South Africa recently took pledges to promote the famous Trans-Kalahari Corridor (TKC) as a premier regional trade, logistics and investment gateway.

The OvaHerero people in Botswana, who are of Namibian descent and the descendants of the victims and survivors of the 1904 and 1908 genocide, are seeking engagement with Germany in their own right. 

The Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) has recently launched an initiative aimed at driving conservation, local enterprise and sustainable livelihoods in member states.

The Mafwe Traditional Authority celebrated the 45th anniversary of the annual Lusata Cultural Festival at its palace headquarters in Chinchimane.

This year's festival was held under the theme "Celebrating Our Cultural Heritage, Unity and Cultural Diversity".

Namibia was Botswana's second best main supplier of imports in August after South Africa, as Botswana sourced most of its goods and services within the Southern African Customs Union region.  

Botswana has been commended for showing commitment towards advancing regional trade integration between 29 countries in the southern and eastern African counties.

Interest in natural diamonds from Namibia, Botswana and South Africa was recently invigorated following the signing of the Beijing Declaration Agreement.

Members of the Namibian Defense Force and Botswana Defense Force have been urged to continue strengthening bilateral relations.
