NDF plans to enhance training of soldiers to ensure combat readiness

The Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, has called on the defence forces to step up training and remain combat-ready at all times.
  
He made these remarks during a reception parade for the Namibian contingent to Mozambique at Hanganee Katjipuka Barracks in Windhoek on Friday.

While applauding the contingent, Kapofi urged all members of the defence forces to emulate the fighting spirit shown by NDF pioneers, who had previously succeeded in executing external missions against well-established enemy forces. 

21 Motorised Infantry Brigade change of command

The 21 Motorised Infantry Brigade welcomed Brigadier General Johannes Shimweetheleni, who took over command from Brigadier General Martin Shikomba last week.

The Chief of Defence Force, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas, appointed Brigadier General Shimwetheleni as the new General Officer Commanding the 21 Motorised Infantry Brigade.

Following the appointment of Brigadier General Shimwetheleni, the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Marshal Pinehas, presided over a change of command between the outgoing GOC and incoming GOC at Tobias Hainyeko Garrison.

NDF Medical School receives a boost

The German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group handed over medical school teaching facilities and a student accommodation unit for a vocational training centre to the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) at its Training Establishment in Okahandja.

Following a ground-breaking ceremony that was conducted in 2021, the school welcomed and witnessed the official handover ceremony of the two facilities.

Defence Ministry urged to align to modern defence technology

The Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Frans Kapofi, has urged the top echelon of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) to implement strategic policies aligned with modern defence technology.

Minister Kapofi made these remarks while addressing a defence annual review conference at Swakopmund.
Kapofi stated that it is high time for the NDF to expand and manifest itself within the scope of modern technology, calling it a paradigm shift in fighting evolution. 

INTERVIEW | Recently ended 63rd UNITAS exercise in Brazil

Namibia was among the 21 countries that participated in the 63rd UNITAS exercise, which ended recently.

The Namibian ship, Elephant, was assigned to represent the country's navy during the naval parade and also participated in Operation UNITAS, marking Brazil's bi-centennial independence anniversary.

Teoporta Nghipunya, Public Relations Reporter for the Ministry of Defence, accompanied the Navy on this exercise and spoke to news anchor Morris Kalunduka.
