The Fishrot corruption trial, set to commence today before High Court Judge Moses Chinhengo, has been postponed to Thursday, 6 February, due to the judge's unavailability.

The Fishrot trial resumed this morning in the absence of one accused, Ricardo Gustavo, who is still hospitalised.

Judge Moses Chinhengo has ruled that the Fishrot accused will proceed with the plea-taking, even in the absence of Bernhardt Esau's lawyer, Florian Beukes, who is on medical leave until December 22.

The Windhoek High Court has struck from the roll an application brought forward by four Fishrot accused, whose application sought to remove acting High Court Judge Kobus Miller from practicing as a judge.

Ricardo Gustavo has complied with the Supreme Court order and handed himself over to the Windhoek Correctional Facility just minutes before the given deadline of 17:00.

The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in a case in which the state is appealing the granting of bail to one of the Fishrot accused, Ricardo Gustavo.

High Court Judge Herman Oosthuizen granted Gustavo N$800,000 bail.
