WHO WARNS OF EXPANDING EBOLA OUTBREAK IN EASTERN DRC

The World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned on Thursday that the Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC continues to expand, with 1,406 confirmed cases and 438 deaths, as violence and mistrust threaten efforts to contain the virus.

Zambia has recorded four deaths following a measles outbreak.

The Western Province of Zambia, bordering Namibia, has been declared an epicentre of the outbreak.

Ten measles cases confirmed in Kunene Region

Ten out of 24 suspected measles cases have tested positive in the Kunene Region.

Since the first confirmed measles case in Opuwo, on August 21 this year, additional suspected and confirmed cases have been reported.
