Preparations are on track ahead of the memorial service and burial of the late member of Parliament James Uerikua and his son Venturo.

Parliament is set to host the memorial service of the late member of parliament and former Otjozondjupa Regional Governor, James Uerikua, with proceedings expected to begin shortly at Parliament Gardens in Windhoek.

The Otjozondjupa Region hosted a memorial service for the late parliamentarian James Uerikua and his son, Venturo Uerikua, on Saturday in Otjiwarongo.

The service provided an opportunity for residents to bid farewell to their former governor. 

The memorial services of veteran musician Siegfried "Ou Jomo" !Haoseb, widely regarded as the country's "Godfather of Drums" will be held this Sunday (15th March) at his residence in Katutura.

Haoseb died this week at the age of 59.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah described the late Reverend Jesse Jackson as a committed ally of Namibia during a memorial service held in honour of the late American civil rights leader.

A family memorial service for veteran of the Namibian liberation struggle and Swapo stalwart, Mathias Kanana Hishoono, was held at his homestead at Onambutu village in the Eenhana Constituency of the Ohangwena Region.

The memorial service for veteran journalist and former Swapo Party Regional Councillor Erasmus Captain Hendjala will be held on Friday, 9 January, at Oinyikanyika-Olupandu in the Omusati Region.

Hendjala died in Ongwediva on January 2 at the age of 78.

The life of the late Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) board Chairperson Theo Mberirua was honoured at a memorial service at the MTC headquarters on Thursday evening. 

Mberirua died last week Thursday after a short illness. He was aged 63. 

The Walvis Bay community paid tribute to the late businessman, John Savva, honouring his legacy and contributions to the coastal town.

The remains of the late Jackson Kaujeua Jr. arrived in the country today, where he was received by close family members and fellow artists at Hosea Kutako International Airport.
