The Minister of Health and Social Services, Esperance Luvindao, has said that despite work ahead, Namibians have reasonable access to health care.
She made the remarks at the official opening of the new Onandjokwe Hospital Maternity Ward.
The expecting mothers at Otjimbingwe no longer have to travel long distances to Usakos to deliver.
This follows a donation of equipment worth about seven hundred thousand dollars courtesy of Lipidico Chemicals Namibia.
The construction of a N$59 million maternity ward at Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital is nearing completion.
The Onandjokwe maternity ward will be the largest ward among all public health facilities, with a bed capacity of 120.
Currently, the ward has a bed capacity of 70.
