The Director of Education for the Ohangwena Region, Isak Hamatwi, has called on staff to build on initiatives that are already delivering results, while also introducing fresh strategies and innovative approaches to improve performance in the region.
In a move to improve the welfare of educators, the Ohangwena Regional Governor, Kadiva Hamutumwa, handed over the construction site for a new teacher's accommodation facility at Helao Nafidi Combined School in the Okongo Constituency.
The project is estimated to cost N$1.4 million.
The Ohangwena Region's education sector is faced with a myriad of challenges, including a shortage of classrooms and a lack of sufficient infrastructure, among others.
Education is a shared responsibility, and parents are called upon to support schools and teachers in maintaining discipline, which will positively contribute to their academic performance.
The re-opening of schools in the Ohangwena Region kicked off on a positive note, with all learners having been placed.
The region managed to place more than 1,000 grade 12 and 600 grade 10 learners, despite being one of the most populated regions in the country after |Khomas.
