On 4 February 2022 the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government appointed Mr Matthew //Gowaseb, as a member of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) panel of Eminent person. The APR Panel is a body of Eminent Africans appointed by the African Peer Review Forum with the responsibility to lead the country review process. Members of the APR Panel shall be African nationals of high moral stature, integrity, objectivity, impartiality and independence, who have distinguished themselves in careers that are considered relevant to the work of the APRM, and shall have demonstrated commitment to the ideals of Pan Africanism. Members of APR Panel will serve for four years based on the principle of geographical representation and gender. The Panel exercises oversight of the APRM process with a view to ensuring the independence, professionalism and credibility of the process. It also oversees the selection of the APR Teams and appoints them to conduct country reviews. Mr //Gowaseb, among others, serves as a member of the APRM Namibia National Governing Council.
