Some learners in the Kongola Constituency of Zambezi region are still collecting water from crocodile-infested rivers, due to water shortages at their schools. Mashi Chief Joseph Mayuni raised the concern at the annual Tulikonge Cultural Festival of the Mafwe community at Choi village on Sunday. Community members gathered at the village to celebrate their cultural heritage with traditional songs and dance. In a speech read on his behalf, Mayuni appreciated the numerous capital projects completed in his area of jurisdiction. He said the completion of the 120-kilometre Singalamwe-Liselo tarred road not only links rural communities, but also brings government services to the people. Mayuni, however, was concerned about the lack of clean drinking water and electricity at some villages under his jurisdiction. Governor Alufea Sampofu pledged government's commitment towards continuing to develop Namibia and improve the livelihood of its people .
