Police Regional Coordinator for Zambezi Region, Deputy Commissioner, Evans Simasiku, confirmed receiving reports that Botswana helicopters were allegedly flying in Namibian territory at Swangwali in Linyanti Constituency. Simasiku says the Namibian Police do not know what is happening. Asked whether they called their counterparts in Botswana to find out what is happening, he said they have tried but have not received a response from the Botswana side. On Monday Linyanti Constituency Councilor, Cletius Sipapela told NBC News that a Botswana Defence Force (BDF) helicopter was also spotted 1,5 kilometres from Kapani Combined School a week ago. He further said no one knows what the BDF helicopter was doing there as it continued flying low within Namibian territory. Sipapela further confirmed that cattle herders within Kapani and Maunga are harassed weekly by BDF on the Namibian side of the border. He added that those occurrences were reported to the Prime Minister's office.
