A 14-year-old boy allegedly killed an 18-year-old after he stabbed him in the neck with a knife during a fight in Gobabis in the Omaheke Region on Saturday around 09h30. A weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) said the deceased found the suspect with four other friends and allegedly accused the suspect of stealing cocaine and sandals from him. According to the police, he further threatened the suspect that if he sees him with anything valuable, he would take these from him. “In response, the suspect drew his okapi (knife) and told the deceased that as long as he had his knife with him, he would never allow anything to be taken from him.” It is further alleged that one of the friends intervened and stopped the argument between the two after which they both walked away. A short while later however, the deceased saw the suspect and reportedly began throwing bricks at him while walking towards the suspect, and started throwing punches. “It is allegedly during that moment that the suspect stabbed the deceased once on the neck. He collapsed and died on the spot,” the report stated. The deceased has been identified as Anton Goeieman and his next of kin are informed. The minor suspect was arrested and set to appear in the Gobabis Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. -NAMPA
