President Hage Geingob says it is impossible to maintain democratic freedoms without economic equality. This argument formed part of Dr Geingob's intervention during the 'Summit for Democracy' hosted by US President, Joe Biden virtually on Thursday. The Summit for Democracy was convened under three themes which are the defence against authoritarianism, addressing and fighting corruption and advancing respect for human rights. Namibia, President Geingob said, is a nation founded on the principles of democracy, rule of law and justice for all. This is evident by the holding of regular elections, independence of the Judiciary, freedom of association and media, including the consistent ranking of the freest press in Africa. President Geingob told more than 100 world leaders that the government has also put in a number of measures to fight corruption.
