The Electricity Control Board of Namibia (ECB) explains that the unit price differences charged by the different regional electricity distributors (REDs) depend on the density of the population, the size the region covered by the provider and also the variables used in arriving at the price. The REDs purchase electricity at the same price from NamPower, but their unit price differs for the above reason. This comes after some consumers complained about discrepancies in electricity unit's consumed in different towns.
