The Employees of Eagle Night Security joined by AR Movement in Swakopmund demonstrated against unfair labour practices by management. The employees say the unconducive working environment has become unbearable to a point where they decided to take the necessary steps to address their concerns externally in accordance with the law. The employees are amongst others demanding a backdated payment from 2017 to date and an increment of the hourly rate from N$8.85 to N$10. The disgruntled employees have also alleged that the company is forcing pregnant women to work while not in a condition to do so. According to their petition, the company has failed to appropriately remunerate them by only receiving N$3 500 despite the company allegedly being paid more than N$17 000 per person per month from the contractor Swakop Uranium. The petition was read by their spokesperson Beverly Haodoms and was handed over to the secretary of Eagle Night Watch Security Strauss Gemelo and the Transport manager.
