GIPF suspends two employees in reaction to allegations of fraud

The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has suspended two employees in reaction to allegations of fraud. The Fund's reaction comes after Affirmative Repositioning Movement Chief Activist Dr Job Amupanda took to social media claiming that there are 'serious' matters that need to be dealt with at the Fund. Amupanda accused the GIPF of "seemingly covering a CORRUPT SCANDAL where GIPF Employees STOLE Orphans Money by ostensibly Forging Institutions of Higher Learning letters and paid money into their PERSONAL ACCOUNTS". He lamented that his team has uncovered an estimate of about N$2 million that had been stolen by the administrators of the Fund. The GIPF, through a statement released late on Tuesday afternoon, says that it has detected possible fraudulent activities pertaining to payments of beneficiaries and has launched an internal investigation. It further says that it has suspended two employees to ensure that the investigations continue unhindered.
