Government launches programme to provide laptops and internet access to students

Namibia today launched a programme to provide laptops and internet access to needy students at tertiary institutions. Minister of Higher Education, Training and Innovation, Dr Itah Kandji-Murangi announced on Monday that students will receive devices and 10 Gigabyte data at heavily subsidised prices. The programme, to make e-learning more accessible to students, will commence in conjunction with internet service providers and information technology firms, in June. Universities are expected to open on 3 August after it has been closed when Government announced the state of emergency to curb the spread of COVID-19, in mid-March.
