Home Affairs Ministry denies social media reports of a COVID-19 positive case

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has denied social media reports of a COVID-19 positive case at their headquarters. Social media reports which went viral caused a scare among employees at the headquarters in Windhoek, who felt that their safety was compromised with a lack of action from the ministry. The ministry's spokesperson Sakeus Kadhikwa said, "the ministry takes COVID-19 serious, hence cannot compromise the health of its employees and that of the public who received services at their headquarters. The Ministry was the first to come up with a Ministerial guide on COVID-19 at the workplace, aimed at giving guidelines at the workplace." Kadhikwa further said, only three employees at the headquarters reported of possible exposure to possible COVID-19 cases and these employees have been sent home for self isolation. He also said the the ministry has taken instant precautionary measures, instructed staff members consent to cease from coming to work, get tested and isolate while waiting for health officials to inform them accordingly, similarly the ministry has decided to decongest the head office. The ministry has contacted the Ministry of Health and Social Services for their expertise and disinfection of their headquarters.
