'Court Managed Civil Procedure of the High Court of Namibia', authored by Judge President Petrus Damaseb, is the title of a ground-breaking book launched in Windhoek. The legal publication is described as a lucid and a unique Namibian model, the first of its kind and historic. Launched in the presence of the judiciary, Government ministers and the legal fraternity, the book drew widespread interest. The event was organised by the Namibia Lawyers Association. Supreme Court Justice Dave Smuts in his introductory remarks said the book provides lucid clarity on civil procedure for the Namibian High Court. Since he assumed office in 2004, Judge President Petrus Damaseb, as head of Namibia's High Court, had been the architect of reform of the court's civil processes. Judge Damaseb, who is also Namibia's Deputy Chief Justice, said the book was developed to provide a legal text to help those who have an interest in Namibian civil procedure. Chief Justice Peter Shivute, while launching the book described the publication as the first of its kind and historical as it provides the launching pad for future homegrown publications of this nature. The book is available at local bookshops.
