A faction in the vaGciriku Royal Family, the Katiku, has introduced its own candidate to the throne. The Katiku Royal Family member Mwengere Shiyambi named Flex Mashika Muraghuli as their preferred successor to the late Hompa Kassian Shiyambi. Shiyambi died in 2019.
