Keetmanshoop Police Station closed temporarily

The Keetmanshoop Police Station was on Tuesday closed after a police officer came into contact with a positive case who came into the station to have documents certified. In an interview with NAMPA on Wednesday, the Namibian Police Force’s //Kharas Regional Commander, Commissioner David Indongo said the station was disinfected and will reopen Thursday afternoon. “The station will reopen 48 hours after the disinfection process. The person only came into contact with one officer who was assisting him and the officer was advised to go into self-isolation,” said Indongo. He added that the operations of the charge office have been temporarily relocated to the police canteen premises near the station. On Tuesday Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula announced that a 41-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 at Keetmanshoop. “He had no contact to a confirmed case, he was tested on 3 August as he presented with COVID-19 related symptoms,” Shangula said. The minister said it is worrisome that increasing numbers of cases are indicating that they had no known contact with confirmed cases. “It might be the tip of an iceberg. We may have more cases in the communities or some individuals are withholding information,” Shangula said. -NAMPA
