The Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation Ministry is conducting training to ensure a healthy working environment. The three-day workshop, which is the first of its kind to be organised by the ministry, is looking at the ILO Convention 190 on the elimination of violence and harassment in the world of work. The participants are drawn from government agencies and parastatals so that they can also impart this knowledge and experience to their colleagues. Some participants welcomed the initiative, saying if violence, harassment and ill-treatment at work are addressed, this will also lead to harmonious relations and peace at home as workplaces will be free from stress. Similar workshops will be conducted for other government, SOE and municipal workers and the ministry aims to train more than 1000 Training of Trainers to sensitise work-related harassment, violence and intimidation among others.
