Liberation struggle veteran, activist, and author Dr Nkurumah Mushelenga has died. A family source has confirmed his death. The former Namibian High Commissioner for Refugees collapsed in Windhoek and was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital. As the High Commissioner for Refugees, Mushelenga facilitated the repatriation of many refugees from Namibia and the return home of Namibians from exile. Mushelenga was also the national coordinator of the Namibia National Liberation Veterans' Association and a member of the Swapo Party Elders Council. The larger-than-life character had an interest in music and composed several songs and took part in live performances over the years.
