Light oil has been discovered in both primary and secondary targets by the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), Shell Namibia and Qatar Energy. The discovery was made in the Graff-1 deepwater exploration around the Orange Basin, some 270 kilometres north of Oranjemund. The drilling operations which commenced late 2021 was completed this month. NAMCOR's Managing Director, Imms Mulunga says extensive laboratory analysis will be carried out in the coming months on the light oil. The process, he adds, will help understand the reservoir quality and potential flow rates. Another exploration activity is expected to determine the size and recoverable potential of the identified hydrocarbons.
