Man dies from crocodile attack in Kavango West Region

The remains of a 26-year-old man who was attacked and killed by a crocodile at Mupini Village in the Kavango West Region, were recovered on Saturday, the Namibian Police Force has said. NamPol’s Head of Community Affairs in the region, Raimbert Muronga, said the deceased was bathing in the river when the crocodile attacked and killed him on Friday. According to Muronga the deceased, who has been identified as Ben Ndumba, went to the river with his friends around 18h00, when the incident occurred. The police officer called on residents to avoid the river, especially when it is at full capacity. ‘It is during this time that predators and dangerous reptiles such as crocodiles are everywhere,’ he cautioned. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death and his remains were taken to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary.
