Senior citizens in Mangetti Dune are calling on the Ministry of Home Affairs to take Identification Documents services closer to them to enable them to acquire their IDs. Mangetti Dune is a village in the Tsumkwe Constituency with a population of about 500 inhabitants. Most of the senior citizens in the village were born in Angola and still do not have Namibian IDs after living in the country for more than 60 years. The senior citizens mostly have to travel long distances for ID registration and collection to Tsumkwe or Grootfontein, which is nearly 200 kilometres away. Not having IDs has also prevented these elderly from getting old age grants from the government and other benefits
