The Ministry of Mines and Energy Namibia has temporarily suspended the issuance of downstream petroleum licenses, because of many license applications received. In a media statement, the ministry stated it will not accept applications for new fuel retail sites and wholesale licenses nationwide until further notice. It will however make an exception for fuel consumers' installation certificates and any other licenses. The suspension of temporary issuance of licenses came into effect on 25 August.
