Economists say there is need to find ways to support small businesses as they serve as the backbone to the local economy. Owners of micro, small and medium enterprises face an array of obstacles, not only during their start-up periods, but throughout their growth. This stagnation in growth is aggravated by the impact of Covid-19 restrictions - among them air space and border closures to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. During this time many SMEs, macro and micro business are hard hit, especially those in the tourism and hospitality industry, aviation, creative arts and construction while some informal traders have collapsed all together. With this in mind, the Namibia Economist - in partnership with Standard Bank Namibia, will start a series of online business talks to inspire SMEs and prospective business owners, and provide them with guidance, under the hashtag "Grow Your Business".
