MPs criticise cuts in allocations of social welfare programs

The budgetary allocations in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) needs to be reviewed to be pro-poor by reflecting social challenges, such as rampant unemployment, food poverty, and lack of housing and land. These were the views of MP's in the National Council, who also criticised deep cuts in the allocations towards social welfare programs during the debate on the Appropriation Amendment Bill.
