Namibia joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Wildlife Day today. The day, which has become the most important global annual event, is designed to raise awareness of the world's wild animals and plants. The day is commemorated under the theme "Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration" which seeks to draw attention to the conservation status of some of the critically endangered species of fauna and flora. The Environment, Forestry and Tourism Ministry has encouraged Namibians to observe the day by taking pride and also appreciate the country's conservation achievements, which come with tangible direct benefits to the country.
