Namibia records eighth COVID-19 death

There is one more COVID-19 related death in Namibia. So far all the disease-related deaths are men. Namibia COVID-19 cases continue to escalate with 88 new positive cases recorded today. Eighty-one of the new cases are in the Erongo Region with Walvis bay recording 62 cases and Swakopmund having recorded 19 cases. Cases in the Khomas are also in the increase with five new cases recorded in Windhoek. Keetmanshoop and Mariental recorded one case each. Of these cases, 59 are males and 29 are females, between the ages of one to 73 years of age. Windhoek cases involve a 36-year-old NBC Television News employee with no travel history and no known contact to a confirmed case. She presented herself at the clinic due to physical indisposition after which she tested positive for COVID-19. The NBC News Offices have already been disinfected today. The NBC leadership is now working on to determine the extent of the exposure, identify potentially affected staff and determine who should go for testing and self-isolation with the support of the Ministry of Health. Other cases involve a 31-year-old woman from Okahandja Park with no travel history and no known contact with a confirmed case. The case in Mariental is of a 13-year old boy who had no COVID-19 related symptoms and no contact with a known confirmed case.
