Namibia/Angola set to re-open their shared borders

Namibia and Angola are set to re-open their shared borders in the interest of citizens living along those common boundaries. The borders were closed due to COVID-19, as a means to stop the spread of the virus between the two nations. Oshikango-Santa Clara Borders and Katwitwi Border posts are set to open doors as of 1 February, the two governments announced in a joint statement, signed by Namibia's Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Dr Albert Kawana and the Angolan Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President. The remaining borders will only reopen on 15 February. The statement further says the two delegations reviewed and shared the COVID-19 epidemiological situation in their respective countries and agreed to enhance vaccination among their populations, especially along the common borders. A negative PCR test and a vaccination certificate remain requirements for visiting Angola.
