The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) has indicated that they cannot confirm or deny reports of local girls allegedly being trafficked as sex workers in South Africa. According to a social media post by South African anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee, at least five men were arrested in connection with the alleged trafficking ring in Rustenburg and Kuruman in South Africa. The suspects were arrested by South Africa's special police unit known as the Hawks. The men allegedly lured the women from Lesotho, Namibia, and parts within South Africa such as Limpopo. Approached for comment by NBC News, NAMPOL spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi indicated that they have reached out to INTERPOL to determine the authenticity of the reports. Shikwambi added that they are likely to obtain feedback on the query today.
