The Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force has requested that an anti-tribalism commission be established to end tribalism and racism in Namibia. Sebastian Ndeitunga was speaking the Namibian Police Force's launch of the Costumer Service Charter and Strategic Plan from 2017 to 2022. He suggested that if one is found spreading tribalism and racism on social media, he or she should be sentenced for to up to 15 years. The police chief added that during the liberation struggle everyone was fighting collectively to free Namibia. Ndeitunga further called on the salary increases for police officers as the force continued to lose talented individuals due to low wages. He also noted that most officers leaving the ranks are at the level of inspector and lower. The Deputy Minister Of Safety and Security Daniel Kashikola noted that a mindset change should happen to bring gender-based violence to an end adding that the police can patrol the streets but not the bedroom. He further called on the tightening of the law so that repeat offenders not be granted bail.
