NSA embarks on countrywide census awareness campaign

The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) is on a countrywide awareness campaign for the preparation of the upcoming Population and Housing Census. NSA field staff are deployed visiting all households and businesses asking questions related to households and businesses. Deputy Statistician-General, Ottilie Mwazi says they are collecting information for planning and decision-making purposes for Government and private sectors. Through their public advocacy, they want to ensure that members of the public are sensitised about the upcoming enumeration for a successful census which is carried out within 14-days throughout the country. Some household owners do not feel comfortable welcoming field staff in their houses and they are advised to even talk to them at the gate to avoid the spread of COVID-19. NSA also have staff in the field who are doing COVID-19 impact survey and members of the public should feel free to answer their calls. The mapping census, which commenced in October 2019, ends in April.
