Omungwelume Secondary School honours former Ohangwena Governor

Omungwelume Secondary School on Saturday presented gifts to the former Governor of Ohangwena Region, Usko Nghaamwa, at his traditional homestead at Oipapakane village in the Ohangwena Constituency as a token of appreciation. Nghaamwa was declared a patron of the school following his longstanding support of the construction of a hostel at the school. The school delegation, headed by its principal George Nanghanda, handed over a chair and a variety of traditional food items to the former Governor. “Our visit here is to spend a day with you and to present you these gifts as a token of our appreciation for the enormous support you have offered our school,” Nanghanda told Nghaamwa. On his part, Nghaamwa stated that Omungwelume SS hostel construction remains one of his number one priorities. Nghaaamwa started supporting the school by donating mahangu for staple food for the learners, an ox worth N$14 000 for a fundraising drive held last year, as well as a contribution of N$400 000 from his former office. The construction of the hostel, which started in 2017, is nearing completion. Nghaamwa earlier this year donated 50 400 super bricks, valued at N$195 000, for the construction project. He previously solicited and handed over 58 500 super bricks at the start of construction. The hostel will accommodate about 200 learners.
