Police in the Omusati Region are investigating a case of murder after a 27-year-old man from Onamatanga village allegedly killed his girlfriend and later committed suicide, yesterday. It is alleged that the duo, who have been cohabitating, quarrelled in the morning before heading to cuca shops at around 20h00 in the evening. After their return from the cuca shops, the deceased decided to go to her grandmother’s house fearing for her safety. The suspect followed the deceased and forcefully dragged her outside the grandmother's homestead and started chopping her with a panga all over her body. The deceased suffered deep cuts to her head and both arms were almost severed. She succumbed to the injuries on the spot. He then allegedly hanged himself with a belt.
