Owing residents to pay half amount of money to have water supply reconnected

The City of Windhoek (CoW) has cut by half the amount of money owing residents will pay, to have their water supply reconnected. The Windhoek Municipal Council has approved a motion to reduce the minimum reconnection fee from 33.3% to 15% of the amount the municipality is owed. CoW's communications department says as of today until the end of May, residents can make a 15% down payment of the outstanding balance before their water is reconnected. It says the reductions apply to households whose accounts have still not been handed over to the Redforce Debt Collection agency. The decision was reached with the aim to bring relief to those residents, who have been struggling to pay municipal accounts.
