Police officer in Walvis Bay commits suicide

A 29-year-old Police constable at Walvis Bay has allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a service pistol. The incident happened inside the police barracks at Narraville on Friday evening. Constable Gideon Jambeko Mbinga was stationed at the Special Field Force Subdivision. The Police say a suicide note was left behind and no foul play is suspected at the moment. The Police can however not share the contents of the suicide note, because they have to authenticate the note, which is part of the investigation. Erongo Police Head of Community Affairs, Inspector Iileni Shapumba described Mbinga as a humble and reliable officer who wore a smile on his face as he served the community everyday.
