Police shoot and kill suspected Wanaheda burglar

The police attended to a housebreaking incident at a business in Wanaheda at 00h55 this morning. A suspect was found outside allegedly monitoring but surrendered himself to the officers. Another suspect who was inside the building came out running and started shooting at the officers at close range. The officers retaliated. He then disappeared into a riverbed. While the officers were searching the premises the suspect started yelling for help as he was injured. The alleged burglar was struck by several bullets and an ambulance was summoned. He succumbed to injuries about 07h00 at Katutura State Hospital. The body is not yet identified. The two suspects were identified as habitual robbers and housebreakers who were out on bail. They have pending cases ranging from housebreaking and theft, robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms. The apprehended suspect is detained at Wanaheda Police Station. Some tools used to break into houses were found at the scene. Police Investigation into the incident continues.
