Possible tempering with evidence has been picked up at the Government Institution Pension Fund (GIPF) whose CEO David Nuyoma has, in a leaked internal memo, warned employees at the pension fund who are deleting critical information from the company's records, something he says may hinder the ongoing criminal investigation of fraud at the institution. “Such action may hinder the ongoing criminal investigating into suspected fraudulent activities, and this may be seen as defeating and obstructing the course of justice, which is a criminal offence, Nuyoma says in the memo. The fund in August launched an internal investigation and as a result, suspended two staff members. The suspensions came after Affirmative Repositioning leader Job Amupanda posted on his social media platforms that there are GIPF employees who allegedly stole orphans' money by forging institutions of higher learning letters and paid the money into their personal bank accounts. The alleged amount is said to be at least N$2 million.
