President Geingob confers honour of national hero to former NDF chief John Mutwa

President Hage Geingob has given the late Lieutenant-General John Mutwa a state funeral Dr Geingob also declared Mutwa a national hero. The former Defence chief died on Thursday, aged 60. President Geingob declared a three-day mourning period to be observed in honor of the late Lieutenant-General, starting on Friday. The mourning period is to be observed concurrently with that of the first Zambian President, Kenneth Kaunda who also died on Thursday. During this period, flags will be flown at half-mast. President Geingob described late Lieutenant-General Mutwa as an outstanding freedom fighter who served Namibia from a tender age on the front lines of the liberation struggle and in NDF after independence, where he rose to the rank of Chief of the Defense Force.
