President Hage Geingob has declared a 7 days national mourning period in honour of Zambia's Founding President, Kenneth Kaunda. The mourning period will be observed from Saturday until 25 June. Kaunda, a Pan-Africanist died on Thursday, aged 97. President Geingob says Kaunda or KK as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for his principled and unwavering support to liberation movements in Southern Africa as the leader of the frontline states. Zambia hosted several SWAPO party's offices during the liberation struggle and also the UN Institute for Namibia, where exiled Namibians received training under the Directorship of Geingob.
