President Geingob pays tribute to frontline workers

President Hage Geingob has paid tribute to the frontline workers, doctors, nurses and general healthcare workers, who make daily sacrifices to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement to commemorate World Health Day, the President further hailed Namibia's men and women in uniform. Countries observe the day on the 7th of April every year to commemorate the founding of the World Health Organization in 1948. This year's theme is " Our Planet, Our Health " and President Geingob says government places great emphasis on the health and well being of Namibians as well as on the protection of the natural environment In this regard, Namibia has adopted and ratified several multilateral environmental agreements aimed at the adoption and implementation of policies to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. President Geingob says the day also presents a unique opportunity to redouble efforts in the fight against COVID-19 and reiterated calls for citizens to get vaccinated.
