President Hage Geingob is expected to join three other heads of state, Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana, Zambia's Hakainde Hichilema and Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, in lighting the Kazungula Bridge blue this afternoon. The lighting is in celebration of World Children's Day. World Children's Day is the United Nations Children's Fund's (UNICEF) global day of action. The day also marks the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, on 20 November 1989. UNICEF says key landmarks will be turned blue in Africa and officials are expected to focus attention on specific concerns and advocacy messages of the children. Children will speak directly to the four Presidents. The Kazungula Bridge stretches over the Zambezi River.
