Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his spouse Mary spent last night in police custody following their arrest on Wednesday morning after they handed themselves over to law enforcers in Malawi's capital Lilongwe. Their arrest follows the issuance of a warrant of arrest by international police, Interpol, on Tuesday. Following their arrest on Wednesday morning, National Police publicist James Kadadzera disclosed that the two are expected to be taken to court on charges placed by Interpol. Bushiri and his wife arrived in Malawi last week after jumping bail in South Africa expressing safety concerns and the need for a fair trial. Prophet Bushiri is answering to fraud and money laundering charges in South Africa.
