Ruth Herunga appointed as interim Fishcor CEO

The interim board of Fishcor has appointed Ruth Herunga, as the interim caretaker of Fishcor and its subsidiary Seaflower Whitefish Corporation. The temporary board, given the current wave of resignations as well as a need to exercise more control of the subsidiaries in addition to the legal challenges, resolved to appoint Herunga to attend to pressing matters daily at the Seaflower subsidiary company. The board says it is committed to addressing its managerial obligations and has so far appointed a production manager and advertised the Company Secretary position at Fishcor. The board has finalised the psychometric assessments and have shortlisted candidates for Fishcor, who will be interviewed by next week. The temporary board says it is working on a turnaround strategy in line with the integrated business plan of the Minister of Public Enterprises action plan for the sustainability and stability of the company. Mike Nghipunya was the company's last substantive CEO. He is accused of corruption and is awaiting trial with former Minister of Fisheries, Bernard Esau and Minister of Justice, Sacky Shanghala.
