The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) has urged farmers to plant more crops as good rains continue to fall in the country. SPYL Secretary for Economic Affairs, Marius Sheya says COVID-19 exposed major flaws in Namibia's health and food systems. He stresses that the crisis has offered insight into new and more resilient food production. Sheya says the full to capacity Neckartal Dam has demonstrated Namibia's intentions to grow and diversify its food sources can be achieved. He has urged stakeholders to ensure that irrigation of crops around the 5 000 hectares land surrounding the dam is started immediately to boost food production. The SPYL leader further proposes the excavation of earth dams to harvest water.
